School Intervention

  • Help the Parent initiate School Meetings to set up 504 plans and IEP’s (Individual Education Plans), to work with the school to create the appropriate accommodations.
  • Establish on going positive communication with administrators and teachers with the Parents written approval.
  • Work with the School to help identify any Learning Disabilities associated with the Child/Adolescent ADD.
  • Help the Teacher/Teacher’s understand the Child/Adolescent ADD and the Behavior’s related to the Students Disorder.

Family Communication Skills

  • Identifying Communication Patterns within the Family.
  • Developing a strong Hierarchy and helping the parents understand the importance of a United Front.
  • Help the family understand their existing Boundaries in the system, and provide the tools for change when needed.
  • Helping Parents understand their power in the Family System.
  • Provide the awareness of the importance of listening in the communication process.
  • Understanding the “Letting Go” process with Adolescents.
  • Understanding how ADD in the family can affect the dynamics.

Couples Counseling with the ADD Couple

  • Provide Awareness of their communication with each other.
  • Provide the tools necessary to facilitate change in the relationship.
  • Encourage healthy boundaries, where each person is responsible for their own feelings and emotions.
  • Educate the person without ADD to ensure their understanding of the behaviors of their partner.
  • Highlight the signs of Verbal and Emotional Abuse.
  • Encourage the couple to verbalize their individual needs to one another.
  • Learning how to embrace the positives related to ADD Vs. Highlighting the Negatives.
