What is Quality Assurance?

  • In the world of mental health, quality assurance means oversight of documentation or record keeping generated for billing purposes. Do the records satisfy regulatory and government reporting requirements?
  • It is a compliance concept. Falsification of these records is often considered a crime of fraud.
  • The interested party performing therapy self reports on what they did according to the expectations of the payer.

What is Quality Control?

  • This is a validity concept: making sure that the work actually performed is what was intended. It is a measure of whether the evidence- based practice (EBP) is being implemented as the researcher prescribed.
  • Quality control is when an unbiased, independent entity monitors, measure, records, and reports what actually took place during a session. This is later compared to what was meant to happen. This is a mechanism or process for continuous and systematic feedback. 

Quality Assurance vs. Quality Control

  • The difference between assurance and control:
    • Quality assurance is meant to substantiate the claim, for example, that a therapy session meant to contain certain elements, actually took place.
    • Quality control is an independent measurement of what actually happened.
    •  Quality assurance effectively tells how much was done. Quality control verifies how well it was done.

  • Management of Quality Control
    • We do monthly reviews of the quality of services delivered.
  • Quality control procedures will be implemented for:
    • Group Therapy
    • Individual Therapy
    • Customer Service
    • Customer Care
    • Satisfaction with the experience at the Center
    • Management style and technique
  • Results will not be made public and are for internal use ONLY.
  • Clients are afforded the ability to choose their facilitators and therapists
  • Both objective and subjective survey data, as well as evaluations will be used to measure quality control.
  • Clients of group and individual sessions will be asked to complete surveys, including a checklist and directive, open-ended questions, which are  reflective of what the client learned from their sessions
  • Clients will evaluate facilitators and co-facilitators in the same fashion as conducted major universities
  • Survey- takers are  rotated to better manage objectivity.
  • All quality control data will be entered and saved in a database

Quality Control and Supervision

  • Supervision is defined as providing staff with the resources, education, and direction they need to be the best professionals possible. It is also an ongoing opportunity to provide objective performance feedback based on collected data.
  • Facilitators are monitored. In each group session, the co-facilitator is responsible for completing a form, a checklist of what was supposed to be covered in the session, the EBP guidelines and answers to open-ended comment questions.
  • Therapists are held accountable. We ensure that issues planned to be addressed, are addressed.
  • Anyone with direct contact with clients and customers will be routinely evaluated

Quality Control: Client Testing

  • Pre-tests and post-tests may be given to clients in group sessions.
  • Assessments may be used to determine learning of the material. 
  • Different methods of message delivery will be checked for effectiveness.
    • For example: audio, video, didactic,  process groups, reading materials, use of PowerPoint, interactive exchanges of information, learning by computer, use of activities.

Parole Officer? Attorney? Clerk? DCFS social worker? or Caseworker?

  • We want to make your job easier. We offer court-ordered classes: anger management, batterer's intervention, domestic violence, high-conflict parenting, and parenting courses.
  • Some of our locations offer all the classes in one week so you do not have to spend time referring your clients to multiple foundations, organizations, or groups.
  • Should you need to place your client in a class the same morning, evening, or night, we will make it happen.
  • If you want to be sure that your client arrives each week, we can text or email you with their attendance upon their arrival.
  • If you refer your client to any DAZ course,  your clients will receive discount coupons for their classes.
  • We offer accelerated programs, multiple times, multiple locations... and we meet all court requirements!
  • DAZ offers evidence based practices. We comply with all confidentiality laws and government requirements.
